The plan for the next 3 weeks of development

We undertook planning for Sprint #3 last week, and are continuing to build a minimal viable product that works from end to end and will allow users to

  • log into the BPA Data Portal,
  • select a dataset,
  • send this to Galaxy-Australia for NMDS ordination,
  • and retrieve the results.

This last step (shown in red below) will close the loop so that users can see the results of a relevant analysis type and will mean that we'll then be in a position to start involving users in testing and providing feedback on what they like or don't like.

Other things we are working on in Sprint #3 include:

  • implementing support for BIOM format files;
  • starting to wrap the six R scripts from the Rhea pipeline (that can be run independently or as a set) for Normalisation; Alpha-Diversity; Beta-Diversity; Taxonomic-Binning; Serial-Group-Comparisons and Correlations, so that these can be invoked via Galaxy and its GUI;
  • and work to streamline the connectivity between the BPA Data Portal and Galaxy-Australia so users will have a more seamless user experience.
More detail is in the Trello Board.
