Usability testing sessions upcoming in Brisbane
We've been working hard lately on streamlining the pilot interfaces for both the OTU search function at the BPA Data Portal as well as the analysis tools at the Galaxy Australia end, streamlining the processes when data is sent between the two, and also improving performance.
As such, we are on schedule to undertake our first set of in-depth usability tests. These are being planned to occur in Brisbane over the last 2 weeks in September.
In these exercises we'll sit down with several researchers of varying discipline and computational abilities who will attempt to undertake some predefined tasks (e.g. find data for conditions A, B and C, and then perform an PCoA ordination based on condition B).
We'll be observing how the testers interact with the interfaces, paying particular attention to what didn't work, so we can fix it.
We'll then make changes to alleviate any issues found, and start to roll the improved tools to our production systems in October.
If you're based in Brisbane and interested in being involved, please get in touch!
More sessions are planned for Melbourne (October) and Hobart (November).
